Introduction

Hungersoft's Rich Snippets extension (for Magento 2.x) allows you to improve and enhance your webshop's snippets in search results pages. Once this extension is installed and configured in your Magento 2.x webshop, you can add breadcrumbs to snippets of your pages. This especially useful for category pages and product detail pages.
On product page snippets you can display critical information like product rating, price, sku, image, Availability status, Description, brand, manufacturer etc.
On general page snippets you can add your company related information like your logo, company name, email, social media profile links, address, contact numbers etc.

Rich Snippets extension has following options:

  • You can include details of your website and company (name, logo, address, tel. numbers)..
  • You can display breadcrumbs of your categories and products.
  • You can display search field for your homepage.
  • It also helps you provide useful product information like description, price, reviews, availability and much more.

Compatibility

Compatible with Magento OS 2.2.x - 2.3.x and EE.

Installation

Web Setup Wizard

  • Unpack extension files:
    • Log in to our website.
    • Download the Base Extension.
    • Unpack the Base extension file downloaded from our site and upload the contents of the file to the root directory of your Magento installation.
    • Unpack the purchased extension file downloaded from our site and upload the contents of the file to the root directory of your Magento installation.
 
  • Go to System > Web Setup Wizard.
  • Select component manager to install the extension.
  • Enable Modules:
    • Click on Select link on the Base Extension row(Module Name: HS_All). Click the Enable button on the menu that pops up.
    • Next, click on the Select link on the row corresponding to the extension you downloaded (Module Name: HS_RichSnippets).
  • Step 1: Readiness Check
    • Click on the button Start Readiness Check to check you are running Magento on a compatible environment.
    • Click Next upon completion of previous step.
  • Step 2: Create Backup
    • Create a backup before you install the extension, by selecting the check-boxes against the Backup Options and clicking the button Create Backup.
    • Click Next, upon completion.
  • Step 3: Enable Module
    • Click on the button Enable.
  • You will see this page as your module installation is in progress. You can check for errors in the Console Log.
  • Module installation complete.

 

Configuration

Go to Stores > Settings > Configuration > Hungersoft extension > Open tab Rich Snippets.

  • General
    Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable the Rich Snippets extension respectively. This can be configured at a store-view level as well if you have a multistore setup.

Website

From this section, you can manage all settings related to snippet of your website. Once you open ‘Website’ tab, you will see following 3 fields:

  • Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable the website part in snippets.
  • Name: You can enter the value that you want to show up as name of your webshop in search result pages. This can be your trademark name or your brand name that you want to display.
  • Show search box in search results: Using this field, you can choose to show search box (of your webshop) in search results. This can allow customers to search inside your website directly from the search engine result pages. Note that search engine(s) may or may not use/display your search field in their search result snippets. They use different parameters to determine if it should display of search field on search result pages or not. You can only provide the information but cannot force them to display it.

  • Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable display of breadcrumbs in your search result snippets.

Organization

From this section, you can manage all organisation related data that can be added to your search result snippet. Once you open ‘Organisation’ tab, you will see following fields:

  • Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable the display of your organization data in snippets.
  • Organisation name: You can enter the value that you want to show up as name of your organization/company in search result pages. This can be legal name of your company/organization.
  • Logo url: In this field, you can enter a full url from where search engines can pick-up your logo image. Make sure that you enter a valid url and the logo image exists at that url
  • Description: In this field, you can enter a short description about your organization.
  • Email: In this field, you can enter the general contact email of your organization.
  • Social links: In this text area, you can enter social media profile links of your organization. Note that each link should be added in a new line. For example:
    https://www.facebook.com/your_path
    https://www.twitter.com/your_username.
  • Address: In this sub-section, you can enter address (country, region, city and post code) of your organization.
  • Contact number: In this sub-section, you can your sales, technical support and customer service telephone numbers. The values provided in these fields must be valid phone numbers. Make sure that they have a full international country code prefix in them.

Product

From this section, you can manage all product related information displayed in search result snippet. Once you open ‘Product’ tab, you will see following fields:

  • Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable the product information part in snippets.
  • Show SKU: Select Yes/No to display or not display product SKU in snippets.
  • Show image: Select Yes/No to display or not display product image in snippets.
  • Show ratings: Select Yes/No to display or not display product reviews and ratings in snippets.
  • Show availability: Select Yes/No to display or not display product availability in snippets.
  • Show configurable product as: From this setting, you can let search engines identify all your associated simple products of main configurable products in your preferred way, ie. the assoc. simple products can be shown in the search results as main-offers, aggregate-offers or list-of-associated-product-offers. In this dropdown, you get following 3 options:
    - Main Offer - Show the main/parent product price
    - Aggregate Offer - Show the max and min price of all the children products.
    - List of associated offers - List all the prices of every child product as a separate offer.
  • Show grouped product as: From this setting, you can let search engines identify all your simple products of Bundle products in your preferred way, ie. the simple products can be shown in the search results as main-offers, aggregate-offers or list-of-associated-product-offers. In this dropdown, you get following 3 options:
    - Main Offer - Show the main/parent product price
    - Aggregate Offer - Show the max and min price of all the children products.
    - List of associated offers - List all the prices of every child product as a separate offer.
  • Description: From this setting, you can let search engines know the description information of your products. In this dropdown, you get following 3 options:
    - None - This option will not add any product description in snippets
    - Short description: This option will use short description text of your products to display product description in snippets.
    - Long description: This option will use long description text of your products to display product description in snippets.
  • Brand: From this dropdown, you can select value of which product attribute should be used as Brand of the product in search result snippet.
  • Manufacturer: From this dropdown, you can select value of which product attribute should be used as Manufacturer name of the product in search result snippet.
  • Custom properties: In this text area, yon can add optional list of schema.org properties for your products. Make sure that you add one product attribute in one line. For more info check here.

Rich snippets for products

Category

From this section, you can enable schema for each product on the category page. Ie. it can add and display the average ratings of products from a specific product category and can also display the minimal starting price to category pages.

  • Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable the schema for each product on the category page.
